Patrice Keegan

Interim Executive Director

For 35+ years Patrice Keegan has been building the capacity and effectiveness of nonprofits that improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities. Key roles have included Executive Director at Boston Cares; and, at Codman Square Health Center, Director of the CivicHealth Institute and Director of Administration and Finance. Patrice has served on numerous Boards including Points of Light, Friday Night Supper Program, Croma, Inc. and Fenway Community Health Center.

As an Interim Executive Director Patrice has worked with Boards, Staff and other stakeholders to fine-tune missions, improve systems, recalibrate programs and budgets, reveal opportunities and tackle seemingly intractable challenges. She is adept at revitalizing organizational cultures, and skilled at fostering conditions that bring to life Gandhi’s belief that “A sign of a good leader is not how many followers you have but how many leaders you create.”

Patrice has a Master in Public Administration degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies cum laude from Harvard University. She is a longtime Dorchester resident and a proud native of New Jersey.

 

Kenzi Martin

Program Manager, Operations and Partnership Engagement

Kenzi Martin brings a wealth of experience and a passion for making an impact to The Midas Collaborative. With a background in Cultural Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and ongoing studies for an MBA at Boston University, Kenzi is dedicated to addressing societal issues through innovative business practices. Her education has helped her develop a keen understanding of the interconnectedness of social, economic, and political systems within various cultural contexts. Her diverse background includes IT service in the US Navy and experience in Human Resources. Outside of work, Kenzi enjoys volunteering, painting, and baking. Kenzi’s dedication to social impact, coupled with her strategic mindset and collaborative approach, make her an invaluable asset to our team.

Carolyn Brandes

Deputy Director

Carolyn Brandes has a deep passion for helping people turn their dreams into reality. Carolyn graduated from Stanford University and received her MA from Carnegie-Mellon and her JD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For many years she owned a family law and mediation business and served in several leadership roles in her community. Carolyn is the former Business Development lead at the State Bar of Wisconsin, AED of Just Dane, COO of the Massachusetts Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy Coalition, and COO of FirstGen Ahead. After many years as a Girl Scout leader, Carolyn now enjoys mentoring young adults in their first years of career development.

 

Petroy Thompson

Asset Development Program Manager

Petroy Thompson is a Bridgewater State University Alumni with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. During his time at Bridgewater, he discovered a passion for advocating for Financial Literacy to support at-risk populations. While still an undergraduate, Petroy served as an intern to The Midas Collaborative and an intern to the Finance Department at Bridgewater and served on the advisory committee for Financial Literacy at Bridgewater Center for Economic Education. Upon graduating, Petroy served as a Relationship Banker for Bank of America; now, he is excited to continue the work of advancing the financial security of low-and-moderate-income residents across Massachusetts as a Program Associate for Midas.

 

Board Members

Dan Matloff, Chair

Dan Matloff is a senior finance executive in the Boston biotech community, having served as consulting CFO for Cadena Bio, Jnana Therapeutics, Midori USA, Pandion Therapeutics, and Rheos Medicines; and VP Finance for Immunitas Therapeutics and Pyxis Therapeutics.  Prior to his consulting career, Dan was CFO of TEM Capital, a private equity firm investing in the renewable energy and materials sectors; Inea International, a clean tech enterprise that converts coal fly ash into high-quality cement; and 1366 Technologies, a solar tech start-up.  Dan began his career at PWC, then served in roles of increasing responsibility at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, and Hittite Microwave Corporation, a fabless semiconductor company.  Dan is a CPA and holds a BS in Accountancy from Bentley University.

Dan previously served as board chair, strategic planning chair, and treasurer of PMD, Inc., a Boston-based nonprofit that runs community service projects to engage people in meaningful, hands-on work to better the community.  Dan has a keen interest in issues of income and wealth inequality in the US, and related social justice causes.

Alex Melikan, Treasurer

Alex Melikan has over a decade of experience in real estate finance and asset management. Currently, Alex leads nationwide business development efforts in affordable housing in his role as Assistant Director for TCAM, an asset management and consulting firm, and for its parent company, MRI Real Estate Software. He has also provided asset management services, supported transactions, and managed consulting engagements for affordable housing stakeholders. 

Previously, Alex was an Asset Management Associate at Boston Financial Investment Management and a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) Analyst at AEW Capital Management. 

Alex holds an MBA from Babson College, a dual graduate-level certificate in Real Estate Finance and Commercial Real Estate from Boston University, and a BS from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Anthonina Fenelon, Secretary

Anthonina is the Director of STASH and a HUD Certified Homeownership Advisor with Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA) in Dorchester, Massachusetts. As a community activist for maternal and infant health, she aims to help families reach another goal – homeownership. Anthonina manages the First-Generation match savings program teaches the First Time Homebuyers, Homeowners Landlord, and Condo courses educating participants on tips that will allow them the necessary tools and insight to be successful in homeownership. She is a proud Boston native and fluent in Haitian Creole.

 

Michael D. Andelman, Board Member

Michael D. Andelman is deftly Senior Program Managing a hardy Bank On Boston Coalition within Boston’s Center for Working Families, formerly the Boston Mayor's Office of Financial Empowerment. He is also the staff lead for the Boston Builds Credit initiative.

At fourteen, Michael started his first business, a direct mail and database management corporation sustainably employing youth and stay at home parents. His entrepreneurial successes in variegated industries, like Cafes, Entertainment, Construction and Hospitality has enabled non-business minded individuals, especially artists to quit their day jobs by becoming fiscally responsible and solvent. As the Chief Creative Officer of the Massachusetts Jump$tart Coalition, Michael created the Massachusetts Financial Regatta, a real life sailing and personal finance competition for high schoolers. Michael has been an awarded financial educator and active member of the FDIC's Money Smart Alliance since 2008.  

Connie O'Hare, Board Member

Connie owns Beacon Advisors LLC, a Boston-based strategy firm serving top executives and investors across large sectors of the U.S. economy. An influential strategist for over 30 years, her work has been featured in The Wall Street JournalThe New York Times, and Investment News. Previously, Connie was a Managing Director at Mercer Management Consulting. She continues to serve on the editorial advisory board of MIT Sloan Management Review and as a member of The Winsor School Corporation.    

Connie earned her B.A with Honors in Philosophy from William & Mary, where she was awarded a scholarship to the University of St. Andrews and elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her M.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  

 

Emilio Dorcely, Board Member

Emilio possesses three decades of community development experience, strategic partnerships, and innovative thinking on structural change and strengthening neighborhoods in New York, Washington, DC, and Boston.

In his role as CEO of Urban Edge in Boston, he leads efforts on affordable housing development, economic justice through financial counseling, family wealth building, and anti-displacement through foreclosure prevention counseling. He oversees neighborhood improvements through community engagement as the agency constructs affordable housing. Urban Edge, founded in 1974, maintains a portfolio of more than 1,400 affordable rental homes. It provides support services for families living in those homes, and offers homeownership promotion and preservation programs. Urban Edge is located in Jackson Square, where Boston’s Latin Quarter meets its historically Black neighborhood.

Prior to Joining Bridge Street Development Corporation in 2012, Emilio worked in the philanthropic sector for close to a decade, including at a community foundation, the Association of Black Foundation Executives, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, and as an independent consultant where he supported the design of innovative initiatives and programs to address challenges faced by Communities of Color and low-income residents of urban centers.

Born in Haiti and raised in New York City. He holds a JD from the University of Iowa’s College of Law.
